Serious injury collision near St Ives

We are investigating a serious road traffic collision near St Ives on Thursday and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at around 1.15am on Thursday 2 July to a report of a single vehicle collision on Mill Hill, Lelant, near St Ives.

Devon and Cornwall Police and Southwest Ambulance Service attended the scene.

An 18-year-old woman sustained life changing injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Two other teenaged adults sustained minor injuries.

Mill Hill was closed to allow for officers to conduct a thorough investigation.

An 18-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for any witnesses in the area that may have seen the collision, have dash camera or CCTV footage to come forward.
